Federal health officials announced this week that a food company based in Indiana is recalling over 59,000 pounds worth of chicken products suspected to be Salmonella enteritidis-contaminated.The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a food safety alert on Wednesday to inform the public that it is investigating the possibility of a salmonella outbreak in connection with the recall products. C.D.C. said that the salmonella outbreak was discovered in unopened frozen breaded stuffed chicken packages. These were taken from a hospital. The statement said so.According to the C.D.C., 28 people had been sickened in eight states by the outbreak as of Tuesday. It said that eleven of these people had been admitted to hospital.According to Serenade Foods, Milford, Ind., the frozen, raw, and breaded chicken products were manufactured on February 24 and 25, respectively, and shipped across the United States, according to a Monday statement from the U.S. Department of Agricultures Food Safety and Inspection Service.
