He called them murderers and warned that "we know who" he was.Babbitt was shot and killed by a police officer while trying to climb through a window to gain access to the Speaker's Lobby during January 6th insurrection at Capitol.Trump stated, "I spoke with the wonderful mother and husband Ashli Babbitt who was killed at the hands of someone who should never have pulled the trigger of his gun." We know who he is. This would happen to the "other side", and there would be riots across America. But Ashli represents far more Americans than those on the other side.Trump added, "The Radical Left Haters cannot be allowed access to this." Justice must prevail!Trump and Republicans in Congress, like Rep. Paul Gosar, have attempted to make Babbitt a martyr by making her feel unjustly murdered and unfairly targeted by law enforcement. GOP lawmakers have used her death to claim that the insurrection was not as serious as it seemed and that she wasn't a threat.Trump had called Babbitt a "wonderful young woman, young lady, who went to peaceful demonstration" in a Fox News call-in on July 11. He also suggested that the person who shot Babbitt was "the head security for a certain high ranking official, a Democrat."In mid-July, The Daily Beast reported that Trump had privately complained that he should have lower the flag to honor Babbitt's passing before he left office.Continue the storyAfter an investigation that found Babbitt had not been violated by her civil rights, the Department of Justice decided against bringing criminal charges against the lieutenant. Five people, including Brian Sicknick, Capitol Police Officer, and three others, were killed in the riot.
