Samsung Unveils New Foldable Smartphones, Galaxy Buds 2, and Galaxy Watch 4

Today, Samsung unveiled a number of new products at a virtual launch event. These include the Galaxy Z Fold 3 (and Galaxy Z Flip 3), foldable smartphones, Galaxy Buds 2, wireless earbuds and the Galaxy Watch 4 smartwatch. For Apple users interested in the most recent competition, we have provided a summary below of the new products.Galaxy Z Fold 3 & Flip 3The Fold 3 has a 7.6 inch inner display that is uninterrupted. It houses a 4-megapixel camera embedded underneath the screen. In contrast to the Fold 2, which had a hole-punch sensor camera. The Fold 3 has a trio 12MP rear lenses and a front camera of 10MP. The Fold 3's outer display can now support a refresh rate of 120Hz for smoother content. Only the Fold 2 could do this.Samsung claims that the Fold 3 and Flip 3 are more durable, with stronger aluminum frames and IPX8-rated water resistance. They also feature tougher Gorilla Glass Victus display glasses and a new protective film made from stretchable PET material. This makes the inner display 80% longer lasting than other devices.Samsung's Fold 3 is the first smartphone to support the S Pen. There are two options for this device: S Pen Fold Edition or S Pen Pro. Samsung claims that both styluses have a retractable tip with force limit technology to protect the Fold 3's inner screen from scratches and other damage.The Fold 3 is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8888. It runs Android 11 with a 4,400mAh battery, 256GB, or 512GB storage, and 12GB RAM. It is available in Phantom Black, Phantom Green and Phantom Silver.The Flip 3 is smaller and more affordable and has a 6.7-inch inner screen that supports 120Hz and an expanded 1.9 inch outer display. It is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon888. The device also has a 3,300mAh battery and 128GB or256GB storage. There is also a 8GB RAM, dual 12-megapixel rear camera and a front-facing 10-megapixel camera.The Flip 3 and Fold 3 cost $1,799.99 each. Pre-orders for both devices can be made starting today. They will go on sale in select markets starting August 27, including the United States, Europe and Korea.Apple is believed to be developing a foldable iPhone. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo expects the device to debut in 2023 with an 8.-inch screen.Galaxy Buds 2Samsung's Galaxy Buds 2 active noise cancellation is the main attraction. They are priced at $149.99 which is much less than the AirPods Pro that retail at $249, but are often on sale for lower prices at certain retailers.Galaxy Watch 4Samsung claims that the Galaxy Buds 2 have a battery life of up to five hours with active noise cancellation. They can also be recharged using a wireless case, similar to the AirPods Pro. Galaxy Buds 2 are the smallest and lightest Galaxy Buds earbuds and will be available in four colours: Graphite (White), Olive (Olive) and Lavender (Lavender).The Galaxy Watch 4 Classic and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic are the last two models. They both run on a new version Wear OS, jointly developed by Google. This is the best chance to get an Android-based competitor for the Apple Watch. The new user interface seems to draw inspiration from watchOS’s honeycomb grid view of apps.Samsung claims that the Galaxy Watch 4 has a variety of health and wellness features including blood pressure measurement, atrial fibrillation detection and irregular heartbeat detection, blood oxygen measurement, and the ability calculate body composition. The new Body Composition feature provides users with key measurements such as skeletal muscle, basal metabolism rate, body water and body fat percentage.The Galaxy Watch 4 models come with the Exynos W920 processor and 16GB internal storage. There is also 1.5GB RAM and up to 40 hours of battery time. They are IP68-rated for dust and water resistance. Bluetooth 5.0 and Bluetooth 5.0 are other features.The Galaxy Watch 4 standard has an aluminum case with a 40mm or 44mm display size option, while the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic features a premium stainless steel design in sizes 42mm and 46mm. Pre-orders are open in selected markets, and the watches will be available at retail starting August 27. The Galaxy Watch 4 Classic starts at $249.99 and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic at $349.99.
