All of Superman: The Animated Series Is Coming to Blu-ray

Warner Bros. was founded in 1925. Twenty-five years has passed. The Animated Series was the perfect way to follow up Batman: The Animated Series. The show was produced by Bruce Timm and Paul Dini and Alan Burnett. It debuted on September 6, 1996.AdvertisementWarner Bros. Home Entertainment, DC, and others are celebrating the 25th anniversary by releasing a Blu-ray box set featuring all of the series. This includes all 54 episodes as well as new special features and commentaries. Here's the complete box art.Then why would you buy it? Here are the key selling points. The first is that the episodes will sound and look better than ever. The press release states that 54 episodes were remastered from original 35mm Interpositive sources. This included extensive color correction, dirt and scratches clean up and a grain reduction pass to create a beautiful picture. All this while keeping the original artwork intact. The original aspect ratio of the series (4x3) was used for audio transfers.That's awesome. A brand new series-defining featurette is also available called Superman: Timeless Iconw. This, according to the press release reveals the complex journey of the show as well as those who created the new mythology of the Man of Steel. It was told by producers Bruce Timm, Paul Dini and writer Bob Goodman. Casting/dialogue director Andrea Romano and Tim Daly, Clancy Brown, respectively, are the revered voices of Superman or Lex Luthor.The audio commentary on three episodes has been updated (Stolen Memories Part 1, The Last Son of Krypton Part 1 and The Main Man Part 2), and there is even a video commentary with Bruce Timm, Paul Dini, writer and producer, as well as Dan Riba, director for Mxyzpixilated.
