Ford chip shortage means your Mustang Mach-E delivery may be at least six weeks late

Ford's F-150 was affected by the global semiconductor shortage. Now, potential owners of its Mustang Mach-E electric car are experiencing a delay of at least six weeks. They were supposed to receive their vehicle between July 5th & October 1st. According to email messages Ford sent to buyers today (via Electrek), this is according to Ford. This is not the first time the Mustang Mach-E has been delayed. In March Ford had to hold back 4,500 Mustang Mach-Es for unknown quality checks. Fords handled this delay in much similar fashion, offering owners 250kWh free charging at stations within the FordPass Charging Network. This is in addition to the 250kWh they already received for buying the vehicle. The Mach-E's usable battery capacity is between 68kWh to 88kWh so there are three fill-ups.Some of the first Mach-E vehicles saw their deliveries delayed by one month in January. UK deliveries were also halted in June due to safety concerns.Below are links to our previews for the Mach-E.Global chip shortage appears to be worsening before it gets better. TSMC, a semiconductor giant, has warned that it will continue into next. There are many gadgets affected, including games consoles and graphics cards, but automakers have been particularly hard hit. Some car companies have gone out of their way to drop features such as wireless charging, HD radio, and start-stop. Others have even rewritten their software to make chips more accessible.
