Introduction: Hotel Hopping In Amazing Los Cabos

My next trip report series will feature several hotel reviews in Los Cabos. These reviews will be published quickly as I am a little behind.Los Cabos is why we wentIn a previous post, I mentioned that we are currently staying in hotels and have been doing so for quite some time. The short version is that we are still waiting for our new (severely delayed!) home to be ready. This has been the best option. (I also went into more detail in a previous blog post so you can check it out). We've mostly been traveling around the United States for a while, visiting various cities every few weeks. But, earlier this year, we decided to visit Los Cabos, Mexico, for a longer time. What's the reason? In July 2020, there was an incredible points redemption opportunity at The Cape Los Cabos. This is a Thompson hotel. A three-bedroom villa with 3700 square feet could be booked for 50,000 World of Hyatt Points per night. That was what I had booked for this spring. We debated whether to cancel our stay as the cancellation deadline approached. We decided to keep the reservation and extend our stay if we weren't already there. We ended up booking five hotels and stayed there for three weeks.View from our Villa at The Cape Los CabosLos Cabos: Where did we stayWe stayed in five hotels during our stay in Los Cabos. Three of them were booked with points and two were not affiliated with any point programs. We stayed at:The Waldorf Astoria PedregalThe Cape, a Thompson HotelSolaz is a Marriott Luxury Collection hotelZadun, a Ritz-Carlton ReserveCosta Palmas: Four SeasonsThese hotels will be reviewed in detail by me in the next few days. (I am still deciding whether to review Solaz since it mysteriously closed and there is no timeline for its reopening. Let me know if you are interested in this review or if it would just be a waste. The Waldorf Astoria Los Caos Pedregal has a poolLos Cabos felt very safeAlthough this is not a problem now, with the widespread vaccinations, there are still concerns about Mexico's safety in terms of coronavirus. I am from Florida so it doesn't really concern me. The tourism industry in Los Cabos deserves a lot of credit for the way things were managed. Los Cabos has been my safest travel destination since the outbreak of the pandemic.Other things include:Hotels were limited to 50% capacity at the time, but in reality they were much more empty than that. The precautions were unrivalled; taxi drivers and hotel staff all wore masks correctly. There were also full hand sanitizers available everywhere. You can't go wrong with a place where almost all the dining options are outdoors. This means you can travel for many weeks and not be tempted to eat in an indoor restaurant.Hotels took extraordinary precautions. For example, one hotel told us they test all employees for coronavirus every other week. At another hotel, servers would use hand sanitizer whenever they came to your table to prepare to serve you.Zadun Los Cabos Outdoor DiningIt was my first trip to Los Cabos and I loved it.It was amazing that this was my first visit to Los Cabos. Although I've been to Mexico many times, this was my first time visiting Los Cabos.Los Cabos was a place I adored and I would go back in a heartbeat. It may be my favorite place in the world. Let me explain.Let's begin with the negatives.Los Cabos is not the most culturally rich place in the world. But, you come here to unwind.Los Cabos can be considered a beach destination. However, the ocean is too rough for most people to swim in.Mexico has a 34% service & tax surcharge, which can quickly add up. The beauty of hotel points redeemable for hotel stays is that they don't have to be added on to your room rate. There are also the wonderful things about Los Cabos that I love, which outweigh any negatives.Los Cabos offers a wide range of luxury hotels, from Park Hyatts to St. Regis, with many to choose from.It is a great climate. Although it does rain very occasionally, it gets hot and it doesn't get as humid as Cancun. The landscape is beautiful, with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and beaches.Los Cabos has a unique service. I have never seen such friendly service anywhere in North America.Excellent food. I love Mexican food and Los Cabos is home to some great restaurants. The ocean is generally not swimmable, which I consider a positive because it means I don't want to get in the sharks' house. However, the beaches are beautiful and great for walking. You won't find many cool activities at other beaches in this area. These include whale watching (which was my first experience, and it was incredible), ATVing in desert, and swimming with whale sharks La Paz.I usually travel for 24 hours to relax in a destination. However, there is something about flying only a few hours away without having to deal to with jetlag.Whale watching in Los CabosSwim with the whale sharks of La PazThe Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos PedregalBeach at Zadun Los CabosLos Cabos is my favorite place in the world, and it's not just because of its relaxation. Many of us have visited amazing destinations on our bucket lists, such as the Maldives. These are more exotic and beautiful than others. There is something wonderful about not having to deal with 24 hours of flying, speedboat or seaplane transfers and terrible jetlag. The Four Seasons Los Cabos PoolBottom lineWe spent a few days in Los Cabos earlier this year and visited five different hotels. They were all excellent and I am looking forward to writing reviews. It's hard to believe that this was my first trip in Los Cabos. But it won't be my last. Talk about friendly service, amazing hotels, great food and stunning views. What was your experience with Los Cabos? Los Cabos is a place that I love as much as you do.
