At a Monday afternoon meeting, Leon County Superintendent Hanna stated that "you cannot put a price on someone's lives, including my salary."He said that while we want to ensure that all children have access to high-quality education, they cannot do so if they are sick or in the hospital. Last week, both the Department of Health and Department of Education approved emergency rules that allow parents to decide whether their children should wear masks.Andrew Spar, president of the Florida Education Association, stated in an email that DeSantis must "set aside his political ambitions and concentrate on the safety of our children."He said, "He must listen and respect the people responsible for the overall well-being and health of all students" and urged that he would not resort to using heavy-handed tactics.
