Miami QB D'Eriq King Signs Historic NIL Contract with NHL's Florida Panthers

AP Photo/John RaouxAfter partnering with Florida Panthers, University of Miami quarterback D'Eriq King has signed an NIL agreement.Monday's announcement by the Panthers was the launch of FLA Athlete, a program that allows student-athletes to make money from their images, names and likenesses. The program will be expanded to include other stars from the state's colleges.King will be at the team's games to help promote the NHL and create a merchandise line and other content.After a record 23 passing touchdowns and five interceptions last year, the Houston transfer will be entering his second season with the Hurricanes.King, who led Miami to an 8-3 record in last season's football season, is now considered a contender for 2021's Heisman Trophy:Since the NCAA made changes to its rules in July to allow players to make money off their images, names and likenesses, King has signed numerous endorsement agreements.
