Keyonte George is a top-five prospect for the 2022 class and he announced his commitment to Baylor Sunday.George, who had his May list cut back, chose the Bears over Texas and Oklahoma State, Kansas, and Kentucky. Four of his five final schools were visited by George, with Kentucky being the exception. Texas was the favourite for most of spring. However, the Longhorns secured a commitment by ESPN 100 guard Arterio Morse in mid-July. The momentum then shifted to Baylor and Scott Drew.George stated that Baylor was the right fit for him as a scoring guard. "Seeing their play this year shows that they let go of their guards. Although they were already a winning team and their playing style was a key factor in my decision, winning the championship didn't help. It was mostly Coach Drew's relationship and their play style that made it possible. Their goal is to help me become the best version possible of myself, win with my team and get to the next level.George, a 6-foot-4 guard shooting from iSchool Lewisville (Texas), is ranked No. 4 in the ESPN 100 -- but will rise to No. 2 with Jalen Duren and Emoni Bates, the top two prospects. No. George is now the No. 2 Baylor recruit since 2007.He said, "Coach Drew" was one of the most caring men he's ever met. He cares about his players, his coaches and all the people involved in the program. He makes you feel like a family member."George scored 24.8 points per game in 24 high school games, including 27 against Oak Hill Academy (Virginia), and 34 against AZ Compass (Arizona) during the high-school season. In early July, he suited up to play for Southern Assault 3SSB, an Adidas grassroots circuit team. His best performance was a 24-point, 19 rebound effort against Mikey Williams and Chris Livingston.George uses his ball to make smooth, clever moves to pass defenders. He has bounce, leverage, strength and strength to score in paint and get to the rim. He is a skilled middle player and knows when to use his skills. He pulls up when defenders are backing up and uses his balance, poise, and elevation to make jumpers outside of the basket and within the arc. His 3-point shot is extremely accurate and has great range. His shot-making abilities and triple-threat body positioning allow him to shot-fake or jab-step to pass defenders.George is difficult to guard because he scores with a live ball, but also cuts screens to open spaces without the ball. When opponents try to take the ball from his hands, he shows poise. To be a two-way player at Baylor, his defensive game must be improved. He is a future lottery pick and has a track record of developing his guard and being successful on the court.Drew's second commitment is George, who joins Dillon Hunter (No. 46 This is also the second consecutive class in which the Bears have signed a five star wing after adding small forward Kendall Brown to the team for the upcoming season.Drew and his staff are still in the mix for Vincent Iwuchukwu top-30 prospect and Anthony Black."I am hoping I can get Vincent Iwuchukwu," George said. "He has Baylor among his top five, so I'm going talk to him to see if he can be part of the family."
