Coventry City 2-1 Nottingham Forest: Late Kyle McFadzean winner makes for magical Sky Blues home return

Last update on. From the section ChampionshipGed Scott BBC Sport, Coventry Building Society ArenaBrice Samba, Forest keeper, failed to stop Kyle McFadzean from crossing the line.Coventry City's captain Kyle McFadzean scored an injury-time winner, as the Sky Blues came back from behind to defeat Nottingham Forest.City was on the lookout for Forest's victory in their first match in the city since April 2019.However, Viktor Gyokeres, a Swedish striker, scored an 81-minute equalizer to give Coventry a late turnaround. Coventry had been spending the previous two seasons ground-sharing at Birmingham City’s St Andrew's Home.Six minutes later, Forest had twice stopped goalbound attempts before McFadzean, a big defender, fired through the crowd. Brice Samba couldn't stop the ball from bouncing across the line.It was anguish for Forest who had been leading at the break when Brennan Johnson’s breakaway stretched Coventry's defence. Taylor was able to slip in and convert from close quarters. This was not the sixth goal the club scored last summer when Charlton Athletic signed him. It was his first away match at the City Ground, and his first time in front of a crowd.Although there was a possibility of another Forest goal just before the break, Simon Moore, City's homekeeper, did his best to save Johnson.Perhaps daunted by the opportunity to return home in the first period, Coventry looked a better side after the break. They were close when Ben Sheaf's sidefooted effort hit it the bar.Forest was eventually beaten down by the hosts as the majority of the 20,843 crowd rallied behind them. They also had a double sting at the tail.First, Callum O'Hare created enough confusion down the right side for his blocked cross rebound into the path Gyokeres. His shot took a slight deflection and finally found the back of the net. After Dom Hyam's header had been saved, O'Hare's shot got blocked. McFadzean then brought down the house when his follow up attempt somehow crossed the line.Lyle Taylor's goal in Forest was his first away from the City Ground.
