Markie Post Who Starred in 'Night Court' Dead at 70

Markie Post, who was a star and household name through "Night Court," has passed away.After battling cancer for almost 4 years, Markie died Saturday.Post, who also appeared in "The Fall Guy", and "Hearts Afire", has an Alex Trebek connection. She was an associate producer for his show, "Double Dare". She was also the card dealer in "Card Sharks.""Night Court" was her breakthrough role. She played Christine Sullivan, a public defender, on the hit series that ran from 1985 through 1992.Later, she appeared on "The Love Boat", "Fantasy Island," and "Cheers."Markie continued to pursue her career, even through her battle with cancer. In between chemotherapy treatments, she did a Lifetime XMAS movie called "Four Christmases and a Wedding".Her family stated, "But for us, our pride in who she was in additional to acting is in who she was; a person who made elaborate cake for friends, sewed curtains in first apartments, and taught us how to be kind and loving in a sometimes harsh world."Markie's husband Michael Ross and her daughters, Kate Armstrong (an actress) and Daisy Schoenborn, are still with us.Markie was 70.
