Fulton joined Joe Looney, a veteran offensive lineman, and Todd Davis as the Giants' last-minute retirees.After being released by Giants, Kelvin Benjamin, a tight end, also stated that he was done playing football.Giants are well-known for running a tough camp, which includes laps for mental errors. As punishment for the team's melee earlier in week, Coach Joe Judge had them do sprints and pushups to stress accountability.Judge pointed out that Looney and Davis' decisions were more personal.These are difficult decisions for guys. Judge stated Thursday that it is not unusual for vets to become disabled later in their careers, when they have started training camp. In both cases, I would say that the players had family issues that they had to address, which was an important part of the decision."I believe both men could have helped us. Based on the possibilities that may arise in the future, we left the door open to both men.Fulton, 29 years old, signed a one year deal with the Giants that would have earned him $1.2million. Fulton was awarded a $137,000.500 signing bonus.Fulton, who was a starter most of his career with the Giants, was fighting for a roster spot. Fulton spent the majority of training camp with the second-team offense. Even though Shane Lemieux, the starting left guard, was injured in his knee during training camp, Kenny Wiggins occupied his spot ahead Fulton.Fulton was even seen at practice cross-training at the center this week after Looney retired.Newsday first reported the news about Fulton's decision.
