The transport secretary stated that vaccine passports will continue to be a permanent fixture in international travel for the future.If they wish to travel to the UK, most travellers must prove that they have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19.Many countries require that foreign tourists have both the coronavirus and polio vaccines in order to be allowed to enter quarantine-free areas.Grant Shapps, Transport Secretary, told ITV News that he sees this as a permanent fixture of international travel for the foreseeable future.I've been to meetings with my counterparts in transport [in other countries] and it is clear that double vaccination will be required. They are already seeing it in almost every country in the globe.He said, "If you haven't had your vaccine yet, get it. Unless you are medically exempted, you will need it to travel in future."After announcing changes to the UK's traffic light system on Wednesday, he spoke after which he said that they would remain unchanged for three weeks.He stated that the summer's strategy of reviewing traffic lights every three weeks instead of weekly should allow people to travel abroad.ITV News was told by him: "My simple message is that we want people be able go away, take a well-earned vacation, and know that this system is in place, bar any unforeseen situations, for the remainder of August."
