Galerie Perrotin is partnering with Moon Park, founder of cultural commentary DTF POST and designer of streetwear label DTF.NYC for an exclusive T-shirt design.
Marking the first-ever non-artist exclusive in the gallery's history, the design references the Golden Record from the 1970s NASA Pioneer and Voyager missions. The gold-plated copper phonographs were meant to communicate contemporary sounds and images that reflect the diversity of life and culture on Earth to extraterrestrials. Printed on the T-shirt is a detailed program that includes artists such as Takashi Murakami, Daniel Arsham and Maurizio Cattelan, along with a soundtrack by founder Emmanuel Perrotin's friend and collaborator Pharrell Williams.
DTF.NYC's goal is to build connections and engage local youths through culturally relevant information and products. With a design inspired by the Golden Record, DTF.NYC hopes to invoke the feeling of global camaraderie as one human race by celebrating Perrotin's contribution to the art world as well as the artistry and creativity of the gallery's artists.
The Galerie Perrotin x DTF.NYC T-shirts will launch on DTF.NYC's website and exclusively at the Galerie Perrotin's Lower East Side location on November 2. Pre-orders go live today on DTF.NYC.
