Masai Ujiri gets new deal as vice chairman/president of Toronto Raptors, sources say

Sources told ESPN that Masai Ujiri (the architect of the 2019 NBA championship team) has signed a new significant deal to become vice president and president of Toronto Raptors.His former title was president.Ujiri, who arrived in Toronto as the general manager in 2013, has become one of the most successful, sought-after and respected executives in professional sports. Sources say that Ujiri rejected offers from other pro sports organizations in the last year and months of the expiring contract.Sources said that Ujiri will remain the Raptors' top basketball/business executive as well as a global philanthropist via his Giants of Africa initiative.Ujiri talked about his and the franchise’s goals in a tweet released by the Raptors Thursday."On the court, we have one goal: Win. It's easy: Win. In the video, Ujiri stated that Toronto should have another championship. We are united in this mission, and nothing else will work. We will bring new talent to the city and build with our incredible players. It's something I have said before and it is still true: We will win Toronto. I am grateful to have the chance to lead this team. I enjoy being the Toronto Raptors' leader and I intend to continue that role.After being named NBA Executive of Year in Denver, Ujiri moved to Toronto in 2013.
