Julius Randle agrees to 4-year, $117 million extension with New York Knicks

New York Knicks All-Star forward Julius Randle agreed to a four-year extension of his contract worth $117 million. This will increase his total deal to five years and $140m, according to his agents Aaron Mintz and Steven Heumann, CAA Sports.The extension also includes a player option for the final season of 2025-26.Randle was a star for the Knicks and won the NBA's Most Improved player award and second-team All-NBA honours. He also led the team back to the playoffs as a fourth seed in Eastern Conference.Randle could have waited for his contract expire and signed a new $200m deal. But the Knicks extended Randle's $19.8 million salary for 2021-22, giving them financial flexibility to shape their roster. This gives Randle the opportunity to continue his commitment to the franchise and city that he has adored and continues to love.Randle, 26, was the NBA's Coach-of-the Year Tom Thibodeau. He averaged 24 points, 10 boards and 6 assists. Randle was a key player in the Knicks' revival and helped them reach the postseason.After two seasons playing with the New Orleans Pelicans, and four with Los Angeles Lakers, Randle was signed to a three-year deal as a free agent in 2018. Randle was the No. 7 selection out of Kentucky in 2014 NBA draft.
