A show set in the famous Overlook Hotel has died, but it is likely to be revived. J.J. Abrams, as part of his deal with WarnerMedia, was creating a show called Overlook based upon Stephen Kings The Shining. Although the show was originally scheduled to air on HBO Max, reports suggest that Max has decided to let its competitors have a go at it. It's no surprise that Netflix appears to be leading the pack.AdvertisementOverlook is a horror series that will air 10 episodes about the hotel where The Shining takes places. This is not a retelling or sequel to Stanley Kubrick's The Shining, nor its Mike Flanagan-directed sequel Doctor Sleep. However, it does take a step back and reveal other horrifying stories that took place there. These could include characters from The Shining. It's a marketable idea so it seems strange that HBO Max wouldn't take it on. However, e ven though Netflix may not pick it up, someone is likely to. King and Abrams are too well-known to pass up.Under his huge overall deal, Abrams and Bad Robot continue to work alongside Warner. There are still shows coming to HBO Max, such as the highly anticipated Justice League Dark, and there is also Demimonde which Abrams will create in his first decade of creating a sci-fi series for HBO. There's also the animated Batman show and more Westworlda ll of his other projects. There's also the new Superman movie, and possibly other things that haven't been released yet. Warner is still involved in J.J. Abrams; the company is just checking out Overlook. We will keep you posted if we have more information. Are you curious about where our RSS feed went.
