Sandals Royal Curacao is now available for bookings. It's the 16th resort of the company and features 351 rooms and suites across 24 categories.The resort was formerly known as Santa Barbara Beach and Golf Resort and before then a Hyatt Regency. It is located on 44 acres in the Santa Barbara Estate's protected preserve of 3,000 acres. Spanish Water, a natural bay and lagoon, is 15 minutes away.Sandals' plans to open Curacao was announced by Adam Stewart, the then-deputy chair. He said that he and his father Gordon Stewart, Sandals founder, had been interested in Curacao for many years. Adam Stewart stated that "from the moment we saw it and the hotel, it was our favorite place."
