Sandals Royal Curacao is now available for bookings. It's the 16th resort of the company and features 351 rooms and suites across 24 categories.
The resort was formerly known as Santa Barbara Beach and Golf Resort and before then a Hyatt Regency. It is located on 44 acres in the Santa Barbara Estate's protected preserve of 3,000 acres. Spanish Water, a natural bay and lagoon, is 15 minutes away.
Sandals' plans to open Curacao was announced by Adam Stewart, the then-deputy chair. He said that he and his father Gordon Stewart, Sandals founder, had been interested in Curacao for many years. Adam Stewart stated that "from the moment we saw it and the hotel, it was our favorite place." Butch Stewart died in January.
Sandals guests will enjoy spectacular Caribbean sunsets from the resort's location west.

Adam Stewart, executive chairman, stated that guests can now hike, bike, and pick up picnic baskets to fuel their explorations. They can also continue their adventure outside our gates. Here they will find a world-class destination with great restaurants, interesting locals, and fine art.
He said that $72 million more has been spent on improvements and enhancements to complete the "Sandalization" process of this property.
The resort will include the brand's first Dos Awa Infinity Pool and The Duchess, Sandals first floating restaurant and bar made from an authentic Dutch ship measuring 92 feet.
Eighteen of the resort's nine restaurants, including a wine bar and Dutch cheese shop, will be brand new to Sandals. Couples can eat on the go at three gourmet food trucks located along the beach. These trucks will serve traditional Curacao cuisine, Spanish tapas, and Asian fusion. They can also grab a drink from any of the 10 bars.
Three oceanfront wedding venues are also available; Red Lane Spa has six outdoor spa cabanas, treatment rooms, and expansive pools; there is also access to the nearby 18-hole Pete Dye course; two marinas on the site and 70 dive sites; as well as the largest meeting space and event space on the Island.
For a seven-night stay, the intro rates are $341 per person per night, double. The butler category rates are $538 per person per night, twice.
