WhiteHat Jr founder departs a year after selling to Byju's ' TechCrunch

Karan Bajaj is the founder and chief executive officer of WhiteHat Jr. He resigned the company one year after the startup was sold to Indian edtech giant Byjus for $300 million.Bajaj and Byjus founder and chief Executive Byju Raveendran sent an email Wednesday to employees stating that the resignation follows a mutually agreed decision at the time WhiteHat Jr was acquired.Bajaj's departure from the firm has been rumored for over a quarter of a year. TechCrunch asked Byjus to confirm that Bajaj would be leaving the firm in April. This was a detail India's most valuable startup dismissed at the time.Byjus, a few days later, announced that it would rebrand its international business under Byjus Future School. Bajaj was to be its leader.Raveendran wrote today that, although I wish he had stayed longer but Karan is a force in nature and used to making unusual choices. I wish him all the best for the exciting journey ahead.Raveendran stated that Trupti Mukker, the former head of WhiteHat Jr's customer service, will now lead WhiteHat Jr.WhiteHat Jr is one of India's fastest-growing edtech startups. It teaches math and coding to kids in multiple markets, including India, Australia, and the U.S. Its unusual decision to sue critics has attracted attention to the startup.I am truly excited about your future and grateful that you allowed me to be part of your lives during this challenging, but immensely rewarding period.As the Indian edtech company looks to expand its market share and diversify its product offering, Byjus has acquired a number of companies including Epic in the U.S. and Aakash physical coaching centre chain.According to Byjus, three of his businesses in the U.S. now have revenues of $100 million each year. He spoke to TechCrunch recently in an interview.He stated that the startup acquires other companies and helps them accelerate their growth, while the original founding teams oversee these operations.
