Turner gave up the race at 10:15 p.m. Turner conceded the race around 10 p.m. ET. Trump-endorsed Mike Carey beat 11 of his rivals in a separate Congressional primary race, in the redder-leaning Ohio 15.th district.Important BackgroundTurner outraised Brown for months and built a lead in polling. After gaining support from national surrogates, including Jim Clyburn, Brown, chair of Cuyahoga County Democratic Party, managed to narrow the lead in the final weeks. Moderate Democratic groups launched an attack on Turner's professionalism, and even compared Turner's political style to Trump's. Turner said that evil money had manipulated the election and made it look bad. She will continue to fight to prevent this from happening again to progressive candidates.
