CDC to issue new eviction ban effective through Oct. 3, source says

According to a source familiar, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will announce a new federal moratorium on Tuesday.The ban on evictions will target areas with high coronavirus infection rates. Research shows that evictions can lead to an increase in the number of virus deaths and cases.After the Supreme Court's June ruling that the policy cannot be renewed by legislation, the White House had previously stated it could not extend the ban on evictions.Although it is unclear how the court will react to this new moratorium by the courts, it could allow states and cities to have more time to distribute the $45 Billion in rental assistance that Congress has allocated to them. Only $3 billion had been distributed to households by June's end.
