Florida Gov. DeSantis defends unvaccinated people who are catching COVID-19, media is being 'judgmental'

He also claimed that the media was being "judgmental."DeSantis was speaking to the media in Miami Tuesday when he was asked about the recent increase in COVID-19 among Florida's unvaccinated population, WESH reported.He said, "When someone contracts a highly transmissible virus of the air, it's viewed as if they did something wrong." "Nobody's trying get sick here."Florida recorded more than 21,000 COVID-19 new cases in one day on Friday, its highest ever daily number.According to the Associated Press, hospitalizations have increased by over 1,000 since June. 95% of those admitted and nearly all the deaths in recent months have been among unvaccinated patients, according to health officials.According to WESH reports, DeSantis lashed out at the media during the briefing. He accused journalists of fear-mongering over the pandemic which has claimed more than 600,000 American lives.DeSantis stated that Florida's hospitals were "open for business" when he spoke to reporters on Tuesday.He said that even in hospitals with more beds, COVID patients make up a small percentage of hospital beds. "I don't want to see it happen again, that people suffering from heart disease don't get in [to hospitals]." "With all due respect, it is deplorable to blam a victim who ends-up in hospital.
