Donald Trump's legal team indicated Monday that they will not immediately block testimony from former Justice Department officials called before Congress. This could clear the way for multiple investigations into Trump's tenure.Former Rep. Doug Collins (Republican from Georgia), a member Trump's legal team, wrote to one of six Trump-era DOJ employees whose cooperation is sought in congressional oversight efforts. He suggested that the former Rep. Collins would not attempt to block those six testimony. Trump's position is somewhat opaque due to the unusual language used in the letter. Collins also stated that Trump's legal team would contest any attempts to obtain testimony from ex-DOJ officials if Congress requested more.[W]ithout in anyway waiving executive privilege associated with matters the committees purport to investigate, President Trump will not seek judicial intervention for your testimony or that of five other former Department officials. Collins wrote that so long as the committees don't seek privileged information or advice from other Trump administration officials, Collins wrote. We will defend President Trump's office if the committees request such information.
