P.J. Tucker, Heat Agree to 2-Year, $15M Contract After Bucks' Title Run

Aaron Gash/Associated PressP.J. Per Shams Charania, of The Athletic and Stadium, Tucker signed a $15 million, two-year deal with Tucker. As they sought to increase defensive toughness as well as versatility, the 36-year old joined the Milwaukee Bucks in the middle of the 2020-21 season. He showed signs of age last year, scoring just 2.6 points per game and grabbing 2.8 rebounds. However, his defensive contributions were not as significant as expected.During the postseason, Tucker was limited to just 29.6 minutes per match by Milwaukee. He still averaged 4.3 points per game and 4.8 rebounds, while making crucial corner threes during Milwaukee's postseason run to the NBA championship.Although he is not an All-Defensive selection, the Texas product can still play a role for 15-20 minutes per evening. He knows his defense well and can make the occasional corner three. He is one of the veterans who can make a difference in a team's success.Tucker's move to Miami is a smart decision, given the low cost. The Heat will be trying to beat the best Eastern Conference teams in 2021-22.
