Now we have Norway's version of the supernatural police procedural with vampires: Post Mortem. Netflix released first-look images of Post Mortem on the heels dropping the trailer last week. It looks like the darker cousin to iZombie, The Santa Clarita Diet, with a touch of Six Feet Under.Harald Zwart (The Mortal Instruments City of Bones and The Karate Kid) directed the series. Petter Holmsen, who also serves as head writers, wrote six episodes. Tesha Crawford (director of Nordic original series on Netflix), said that the series, which consists of "an intriguing mixture of thriller, drama and supernatural elements." According to the official premiseLive Hallangen is declared dead. She suddenly awakens on the forensic table hours later. She has experienced a deep, unquenchable hunger. Her brother Odd attempts to keep the family-owned funeral home afloat but the low death rate in Skarnes, Norway, makes this impossible. Live must learn to control her dangerous nature and decide if it is worth risking her life for the sake of her family's survival.Kathrine Thorborg Johansen is Live. Elias Holmsen Sorensen plays Odd and Kim Fairchild plays Judith. Andre Sorum plays Reinert. Sarah Khorami plays Rose. Terje Stromdahl plays Arvid. Zwart said that his cast members "embody the mix of Scandinavian mystique, dark humor, and Andre Sorum."AdvertisementLive wakes up in a hospital. Odd informs Live that she thought she was dead when her body was discovered in a field. The officers arrived on the scene and took her body to the morgueat where she was able to wake up on the autopsy table. Reinert and Judith are both shocked by the incident, but Judith says that she believes she was dead.Soon, Live realizes that she's not herself. She experiences sudden insomnia and can sense the pulse of others. Her eyes are now a rich emerald and her strength has increased. There's also her growing thirst for blood. This culminates in Live waking up with blood in her mouth. Officer Judith suspects something is amiss. Odd is open to the fact that he wishes that there was a serial killer out there, because that would bring in some business for his funeral home.An examination of the family archives revealed that Live's mother might have had a similar condition. She shrieked about needing "a little blood" to preserve the tapes. A strange, naked figure is seen with a yellow bag covering its head. Live is also shown being chloroformed and a flash of fire--one of the most effective ways to kill a vampire. Post Mortem is an entertaining series. Following the Netflix horror thriller Blood Red Sky, which is essentially "Vampires on a Plane") bloodsuckers appear to be challenging the pop-culture dominance over zombies in the past decade.Post Mortem: No one dies in Skarnes will be available on Netflix August 25, 2021.Listing image by YouTube/Netflix
