Nancy Pelosi, House Speaker, would not confirm whether the House would consider a bipartisan bill to declassify information about the origin of COVID-19.In May, the Senate unanimously approved the COVID-19 Origin Act of 2020. The bill would require the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) to declassify all information relating the possible links between the Wuhan Institute of Virology, and the origin of the coronavirus virus disease within 90 days.Relevant intelligence would include all coronavirus-related work done in the institutes laboratory and any information about researchers who became ill in the fall 2019, including their names and symptoms as well as hospital visits. These findings would then be presented in an unclassified report to Congress.Rep. Brad Wenstrup (R-Ohio), stated that the bill requires us to identify COVID-19's exact origins in order to prevent another pandemic. The President Joe Biden also called for the U.S. intelligence to intensify their efforts to discover the virus' true origin. As additional evidence suggested that the virus could have originated in a laboratory rather than evolving in nature, Biden's remarks were a welcome addition. The Senate passed the bill but it has not been brought to the House's floor. The August recess for the Representatives will begin Aug. 2. This means that the bill might not be up for vote until after Labor Day.The House Republicans attempted to force the House into considering the bill in July but were denied.Wenstrup stated that the bill was about accountability for Americans who want to find out what caused the terrible scourge that claimed the lives of so many Americans, and that decimated our businesses and livelihoods, and that cost them a year of life. The whole world wants to know.Repeated questions from Pelosis asking about whether the bill was likely to be voted on completely and when would that happen were not answered by spokespersons. The Daily Caller News Foundation provides content free of charge to all news publishers that are able to reach a large audience.
