Facebook is requiring all US employees to wear masks in offices

Facebook announced Monday that all employees would be required to wear masks whenever offices reopen. This policy will be in effect until further notice and goes into effect on Aug 3rd. Last week, the company announced that it requires COVID-19 vaccinations for all employees returning from work on its US campuses. It plans to reopen them fully by October.A Facebook spokesperson stated that, due to the increasing numbers of COVID cases and the latest data on COVID variants as well as the growing number of local requirements, we have reintroduced our mask requirement at all Facebook US offices. This applies regardless of employees' vaccination status.The Facebook update was made the same day that health officials in the Bay Area reinstated indoor masking requirements for several counties. This order is being made amid an increase in COVID-19-related cases all across the country. It was caused by the highly contagious Delta variant. Last week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revised its guidance to recommend masking for people who have been vaccinated in areas with high COVID-19 levels.Other companies are also changing their policies and plans according to case numbers and CDC recommendations. Google announced last week that all employees will be required to get vaccinated. It delayed its plans for reopening. Apple will require masks for all its customers and employees, whether they are vaccinated or otherwise, at most of its US retail outlets.
