Dallas Mavericks keep Tim Hardaway Jr. with four-year, $74 million deal, agent says

Agent Mark Bartelstein from Priority Sports informed ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski that shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr. has signed a four-year, $74million deal to resign with the Dallas Mavericks.Sources said that Boban Marjanovic, the backup center, committed to the Mavs in the first minutes of free agency. However, they refused to disclose the terms.The Mavericks prioritized Hardaway's retention in free agency. They also pursued potential sign-and trade scenarios to add point guard Kyle Lowry. Sources expect Lowry to move to the Miami Heat.Hardaway, 29 years old, was an integral part of the Mavericks' core during the two seasons since he arrived in Dallas as part the Kristaps Porzingis deal. He arrived in Dallas because the Knicks wanted to get rid of $37 million that he owed in his last two seasons.Hardaway was both a starter for the Mavs and a sixth man. He averaged 16.2 points after undergoing April 2019 surgery to fix a stress fracture in his lower right leg.Hardaway was a great catch-and-shoot player next to Luka Doncic. He made 39.4% of his three-point attempts over the past two seasons.Hardaway was the Mavs second-leading scorer last season. He averaged 17 points per game in the seven-game playoff series that Dallas lost in Los Angeles to the Clippers. Highlighted by a 28 point performance in Game 2, Hardaway's win, the Mavs won the second round.
