Twitch is testing a new format of advertising for streamers. It appears to be less disruptive than pre- and middle-roll ads that can take over a stream. Instead, the new ads are called Stream Display Ads and appear under or around someone's stream, but they don't stop you seeing or hearing what is happening. This tweet from Twitch gives you an idea of one style, which can be a banner advertisement. We're trying out a new format for ads: Stream Display Ads.These ads are less intrusive and allow viewers to hear Creators even though they are displayed. Twitch promises that they will only show eight ads per hour. The company states that this number could fluctuate depending on demand. It's hard to believe I am so excited about an ad format. However, I think I will like these ads more than the pre- and middle-roll video ads that prevent me from actually seeing the stream. These new ads will probably make me annoyed at times, but they'll allow me to continue watching streams without too much interruption.
