Amazon's Lord of the Rings series will premiere in September 2022

Amazon's most anticipated original, the yet unnamed Lord of the Rings original series will debut on Prime Video Friday, September 2, 2022.Amazon Studios has released the official first image of their upcoming series. It will be set in Middle Earth's Second Age. The series will be set thousands of years prior to the events described in J. R. Tolkiens The Hobbit or The Lord of the Rings books. It will feature familiar characters as they face the long-feared return of evil to Middle-earth.The series' New Zealand filming wrapped has resulted in the image release. Fans speculated quickly that the series would be set in Valinor as the image depicts what appears to be the Two Trees.Amazon made a significant investment in the untitled project as part of its Prime Video streaming service. Production costs for the series' first season were estimated at $465 million. The final season of Game of Thrones cost Amazon Studios $15 million per episode. However, its original budget was $5 million.Cynthia AddaiRobinson, Robert Aramayo and Owain Baldry are the show's headliners. Showrunners J.D. Executive producing the show are Patrick McKay and J.D.Bilbo said, "Now I think I'm ready to go on another adventure," McKay and Payne stated in a joint statement. This has been an adventure of a lifetime living and breathing Middle-earth for the past several months. Fans will have the opportunity to experience this adventure as well.Prime Video will be able to premiere the series in more than 240 countries and territories when it launches next year.
