Stocks making the biggest moves in the premarket: Square, Moderna, First Solar and more

Here are some of the most important movers in the premarket.Square (SQ). Afterpay shareholders received a 30% premium when Square agreed to purchase Afterpay's stock for $29 billion. Square shares dropped 4.8% in premarket but shares of U.S. payment company Affirm (AFRM), rose 8.2% upon news of the deal.Zoom Video (ZM). The video conferencing company paid $85 million to settle a suit alleging it violated users' privacy rights. It also agreed that it would improve its security measures to stop hackers from disrupting Zoom meetings.General Electric (GE). GE completed the previously announced one-for-8 reverse stock split. Trading will commence today on a post-split basis.According to the Financial Times, Moderna (MRNA), Pfizer(PFE), BioNTech [BNTX] Moderna and Pfizer raised prices for their Covid-19 vaccinations in their most recent supply contracts. The Wall Street Journal reported that Pfizer and BioNTech are under pressure from the Food and Drug Administration to approve both vaccines. Moderna gained 2.5% in premarket, Pfizer gained 1.1%, and BioNTech soared 5.1%.Foot Locker (FL), The athletic footwear and apparel retailer has announced that it will buy WSS, a California-based shoe shop chain, for $750 million. Atmos, a Japanese streetwear brand, will be purchased for $360 million.Uber Technologies (UBER), shares rose 1.1% in premarket trades after Gordon Haskett Research advisors began coverage with a "buy” rating. Haskett described Uber as a company that is constantly engrained in the daily lives of consumers through its ride hailing and food delivery services.Capri Holdings, (CPRI), Capri gained 1.2% in premarket after MKM Partners upgraded Capri to "buy" from the "neutral" status. This was due to a string of better quarters than expected for the company behind Versace and Michael Kors. MKM Partners also noted an improvement in luxury goods.Discovery (DISCA). According to Britain's Telegraph newspaper, Discovery is currently in informal discussions about a possible bid for Channel 4 British state-owned broadcaster Channel 4.Robinhood (HOOD), Robinhood's stock trading app saw more than 300,000 people purchase shares in Robinhood’s initial public offering. According to The Wall Street Journal, This represents 1.3% of the company’s fund base. Robinhood gained 1.5% through premarket trading.Parker-Hannifin, (PH) British competitor Meggitt has been bought by Parker-Hannifin for $8.8 billion. Premarket action saw Parker-Hannifin shares fall 2.2%Li Auto (LI). The China-based maker of electric vehicles sold 8,589 units in July. This is a 125% increase over July 2020. The premarket saw 4.3% growth in Li's U.S. shares.First Solar (FSLR). The shares of the solar power system maker gained 2.9% in premarket trade after Susquehanna Financial raised the stock to "positive" form "neutral." This was based on positive management comments about solar module demand pricing.
