(1:38).Alyssa Naeher, the goalkeeper for the United States women's national soccer team, was injured in the first period of the 1-0 loss to Canada in the Olympics semifinal.Naeher appeared to have sustained a knee injury in 20 minutes. She landed awkwardly after challenging Canada’s Nichelle Prince for a cross in penalty box. She is widely regarded as one the best goalkeepers in the world and was a strong competitor at the Olympic Games.In their quarterfinal victory over the Netherlands, Naeher was the USWNT’s star player. She saved Lieke Martens’ penalty in normal time, and then she saved two spot kicks during the shootout to help USWNT get to the Olympic Games semifinals.Substitute Franch was close, but could not save Jessie Fleming from a penalty in the second half. Canada advanced to the gold medal match Friday.The USWNT will now be represented in the bronze-medal match on Thursday. Forward Megan Rapinoe stated that the loss was bitter to swallow.
