Fauci: 'I don't think we're going to see lockdowns'

Fauci stated that although we are not looking for lockdown, we do not believe we should. However, we see some suffering and pain in the future as we continue to see more cases. This is why we keep repeating the mantra, "The solution is to get vaccinated. The CDC has recommended that masks should be worn indoors, even for those who have been fully vaccinated, due to the rising popularity of the Delta variant.Fauci cautioned Sunday that some breakthrough infections can occur among people who have been vaccinated. This is because no vaccine is 100% effective. He said that in these cases, people experience only mild to non-existent symptoms. However, unvaccinated persons have a greater chance of contracting the disease and are more likely to develop severe illnesses that can lead to hospitalization or even death.Fauci also stated on CBS's Face the Nation that "common sense," is behind a recent increase in vaccinations in areas where there were previously low rates. He said, "I think people will realize that the virus and infection are increasing in their area if they look around and compare it to areas with high vaccination." It's common sense. He said, "But I'm also pleased to see that even people who were initially reluctant to advocate vaccination are now doing so."
