Tomb Raider's Alicia Vikander Has an Update About the Sequel

Alicia Vikander, Oscar-winning actress, opens up about Tomb Raider 2.AdvertisementVikander stated that the plan was to make a sequel to the 2018 movie this year. However, the current [pandemic] situation has changed the plans. It is still being discussed, so I am hopeful that we will be able to get it done next year.Vikander talks about how little has changed in a recent interview with Collider. Pre-COVID I would have said yes. Now, I believe it is a yes. Although it has not been officially released, the script is being written. Everyone is excited and I'd love to see Lara again.As director Ben Wheatley was originally chosen to direct the second Tomb Raider, the film underwent some changes. In January 2021, Lovecraft Country's showrunner MishaGreen took over Wheatley's helm and is currently working on a revised script. Misha Green, the Lovecraft Country showrunner, has taken over for Wheatley and is currently working on the script. I am very excited to read some thing very soon.This is the second appearance of Tomb Raider on the big screen. Angelina Jolie was Lara Croft's character from 2001 to 2003, with films Tomb Raider (and the sequel Tomb Raider : Cradle of Life). The Tomb Raider video game series has seen a reboot. This movie brings the Croft character closer to her newer avatar and her archaeological adventures.Due to 2018's low box office and marginal reviews, no one believed another film would be coming.
