No children, no vote: Fox News's latest asinine suggestion

Jeffrey Dean/AP PhotographNo children, no voteDo we need to disenfranchise childfree? You might be wondering what kinda stupid question this is. It's the type of stupid question Fox News hosts and Republicans consider worthy of serious debate. Fox News' intellectuals took a break from demonizing immigrants and creating outrage about them to discuss whether the childless left should be eligible to vote. Vance criticized four prominent Democrat leaders, including Vice President Kamala Harris and transportation secretary Pete Buttigieg. Senator Cory Booker, Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, and Senator Pete Buttigieg for not reproducing.Vance explains that being childless means you don't have to make a commitment to the US' future and therefore shouldnt be as involved in shaping the country's direction as your parents.Vances' views might be extreme but it is important to remember that his contempt for the childfree does not seem unusual. While this may mean that you are less likely to think about your own needs, it does not mean that you will spend all your time trying to improve the world. Look at the ways that white liberal parents helped to perpetuate America's segregated schools. Nikole Hannah Jones, a journalist, explains that while many liberal-leaning white Americans believe in racial integration and equality, they act in ways that perpetuate inequality and segregation. They are focused on their child's success.Continue the storyThis is my second child, and I am writing this as a mother. Although I have less money and time, it is something I will happily admit to being one of my most selfish decisions. However, it is not something you do with your logical side.
