Kevin Durant becomes top scorer in U.S. men's Olympic basketball history

SAITAMA (Japan) -- Kevin Durant is the most successful men's basketball scorer in U.S. Olympic history.Durant scored a 3-pointer in Saturday's second quarter win over the Czech Republic, 119-84. This gave him 337 points for his Olympic career, more than Carmelo Anthony.Durant scored 23 points on 8 of 11 shooting. He now has 354 points for Team USA.Anthony scored 336 points during his four Olympics. Durant is participating for the third consecutive time.Durant scored 30 points in the gold medal game in each of 2012 and 2016.LeBron James is third on Team USA's list with 273 points.Durant is still far from the Olympic record for top scorers. Oscar Schmidt of Brazil scored 1,093 points, while Andrew Gaze from Australia scored 789. Both appeared in five Olympics.Pau Gasol from Spain and Luis Scola from Argentina are currently in their fifth spot and hold the third and fourth spots.
