Inflight service was cut by most airlines during the pandemic to reduce contact between crew and passengers. Here's my review of an April 2021 Alaska Airlines flight in first class.Alaska Airlines started to restore first and economy class service in May. There are three choices of hot meals (with the fruit and cheese plate being one)These are some hot dishes you can expect to find on the rotating seasonal menu.Guajillo Chile Lim Salad with ancient grains and sweet potatoes with a roasted garlic cremaMiso Marinated Cod, with sesame garlic farro and sauteed yu-choy, bell peppers, and shitake mushrooms, in a sesame butter sauceAlaska Airlines Flights of 1,100+ Miles are available for hot mealsTo give you an idea of the context, Alaska Airlines used to serve hot meals on transcon flights and Hawaii flights, as well as a Fresh Meal Box for flights over 1,100 miles and a light snack for flights between 670-1,099 mile.Alaska Airlines has resumed full service for first-class beverages with the May change. This includes soft drinks, alcohol, wine, liquor and coffee.Alaska Airlines continues to offer pre-ordering for meals in first class. The guests have the option to choose from the available onboard meals or a fruit and cheese platter. This is between two weeks and one hours before departure.Alaska Airlines updated economy serviceThings are much the same as they were before the pandemic in Premium Class (Alaska Airlines extra-legroom economy section) or economy class.For flights over 400 miles, there will be a full beverage program, including Starbucks Coffee, Teavana Tea and individual cans of soda. Premium Class passengers get complimentary premium spirits. Economy class passengers have the option to purchase alcohol.Customers can buy snacks on flights over 679+ miles.Customers can buy freshly prepared wraps and a fruit & chees plate on flights over 1,100+ miles.Pre-order all food between 14 days to one hour before departure to avoid paying a fee and ensure that you get the first choice. Customers can also pay onboard using a credit or debit card.Alaska Airlines fruit and cheese platterBottom lineAlaska Airlines is the leader among US airlines in restoring inflight service. The Alaska Airlines flight experience is very similar to what it was before the coronavirus. The number of flights that offer meals in first-class on US airlines is unmatched.
