Trump's false election fraud claims fuel Michigan GOP meltdown

Jeff Timmer, who was a former Michigan GOP executive Director and a Trump opponent, stated that he doesn't think top-notch leaders would want to enter this mess from a staff or leadership perspective. They don't want you there unless youre going crazy talk. The root cause of much of the problems can be traced back to Trump's 2020 presidential election results. Trump and his aides claim that they were marred by fraud without providing any evidence.A report by the state Bureau of Elections examining 250 state post-election audits found no evidence of fraud or intentional misconduct. There was also no evidence that the equipment used to tabulate and report the election results didn't work properly when it was properly programmed. Some party officials and conservative activists are still pressing for a forensic analysis of the election results. Trump has encouraged this by encouraging American Republican Patriots (ARP) to challenge RINO State Senators from Michigan who refuse to investigate the fraud and irregularities in the election.Jason Roe, the party's executive director, resigned in protest of Trump's lies about Biden winning the election. Roe, whose father was also the executive director of the state GOP, first attracted the ire from activists last year when he told POLITICO Magazine: The election wasn't stolen. Roe said that Trump seemed to be doing all he could in order to lose a race. He urged the party's leadership to continue on to 2020.After Ted Goodman, former Detroit Police Chief James Craigs candidate for governor, left the state party without a communications director. Kaitlyn Buss was appointed Goodman's replacement. She resigned within one week. She told POLITICO that I decided to leave the party after two days, as it was obvious to me that they were not ready to move beyond Trump.AP Photo/Al GoldisRon Weiser, the Michigan GOP chair, has had his own distractions while at the top of the party. Weiser, a Trump loyalist and a prolific party donor, agreed to pay $200,000 from his own pocket to settle a lawsuit filed by Laura Cox, his predecessor as Chair. The complaint was over an alleged payment to press a candidate to drop out of the 2018 secretary-of-states race.Weiser, an elected University of Michigan regent was censured in April for calling three top elected women Democrats witches in the state and making jokes about the assassination of two Michigan congressional Republicans who backed Trump's second impeachment.Meshawn Maddock (co-chair of Weisers) has been a prominent voice in spreading Trump's false election fraud claims. On the day of the Capitol Riot, she organized buses for Trump supporters and condemned the breaking of the Capitol.Weiser made a statement to POLITICO and dismissed negative headlines. He said that it was important to stand up for Michigan's great people and the scoreboard in November. The Michigan Republican Party is poised for victory in 2022. He said that it was a matter of time. We have raised millions of dollars, our team is strong, and our candidates have already out-polled incumbent Democrats without spending a penny.Ronna McDaniel, Republican National Committee Chair and a former Michigan GOP Chair, shares Weisers confidence in the party's ability to compete at the midterm elections. She said that she was proud to be a Michigander and the outstanding work done by the MI GOP for the Republican Party. We will use the RNC and MI GOP to help us hold Whitmer and Biden accountable for their failures, and eventually retake the House and Governors mansions in 2022.Gretchen Whitmer (Michigan Democratic gubernatorial Nominee) speaks to a reporter following a Democrat Unity Rally held at the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel, August 8, 2018, in Detroit, Michigan. Bill Pugliano/Getty ImagesFormer GOP state legislator and political pundit Bill Ballenger suggested that the main issue for the party is not how to stem the tides of negative stories, but how it will reduce tension between Trump's wing and more traditional establishment Republicans. He argued that the new political maps following a round of redistricting, which will determine congressional and state legislature districts, is even more important.Ballenger stated that while a lot of the other stuff is unsightly, ugly, and embarrassing to those involved, when it comes down to it, I believe they will be in a stronger position next year against Gretchen Whitmer if they have a strong nominee for gubernatorial. This is what you should focus on when trying to grasp the realities of Michigan. Not the ankle-biting, nitpicking stories about the personal foibles or problems of obscure party officials who aren't gonna be on your ballot. Some Republicans still believe that the party is too focused in one election and not enough to be competitive in another. They have to offer more than just their wish that the 2020 elections could be redone, stated Bob LaBrant, a GOP strategist who was also the former general counsel of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce. There is a large segment of the party who believe that a forensic audit will uncover all kinds of fraud. However, establishment veterans like LaBrant are no longer dominant in a party where Trump loyalty is expected. These washed-up, have-beens may want to tell a story but there isn't one, Dennis Lennox, a Republican consultant from Michigan, stated. Jeff Timmers only income comes from Democrats and the pedophile enabling Lincoln Project, which actively works against the Republican Party. Bob LaBrant is merely trying appease the Democrat governor in order to keep his sinecure as a gubernatorial appointed committee. They are buying indulgences from the ruling-class Democrats.Jason Watts, an ex-Allegan County GOP official, was fired as Sixth District treasurer after telling The New York Times he didn't vote for Trump in 2020. He said that the party is focusing on 2020 when it should be focusing on winning back suburban voters it lost in recent years.Watts stated that we weren't focused on 2022 and that I don't see that changing. We will suffer the consequences of this failure and lose the next few cycles unless we can get past it.Watts stated that it is a toxic environment and you don't see any signs of this dissipating.
