Texas Governor. Greg Abbott issued an executive notice Thursday, in which he reiterated his opposition to Covid-related restrictions, mask mandates and vaccination requirements. He also issued fines up to $1,000 for those who do not comply.
The governor also asked state hospitals to submit daily reports on their capacities to the Texas Department of State Health Services, which will then send them to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Abbott stated in a statement that "the new Executive Order emphasizes the fact that the path forward depends on personal responsibility rather government mandates." Abbott's new order extends and reiterates the previous orders that he issued punishing local officials and others who enforced various Covid safety protocols.
