Big whoop, Brooklyn Nine-Nine's final season gets a trailer

April 2020 was the last time we saw Nine-Nine. This was a time when audiences were already less accepting of comedy copaganda. The future of the series was uncertain after the uprising against police brutality that started just one month after the show's seventh season finale. The show apparently tossed a whole season of scripts after the Black Lives Matter protests. According to the A.V. Clubs Britt Hayes reported in June 2020 that Terry Crews had revealed that there were ongoing discussions about recalibrating the eighth season in light of the deaths George Floyd, Ahmaud Abery, Breonna Taylor and Rayshard Brooks. Crews said that they hope that this will lead to something truly unique this year.AdvertisementWhat does the new season look like after all these delays? Meet the new boss. He is the same boss as his predecessor. On the surface, season eight seems to have more of that Brooklyn Nine-Nine energy. It's not that it won't be there, but NBC isn't selling the last season of Mike Schurs comedy about police in Brooklyn, New York. There is one scene in which the precinct inherits an entire squad of Scullys and Hitchcocks.Andy Samberg, Stephanie Beatriz and Terry Crews are back. Joe Lo Truglio and Dirk Blocker will be playing Hitchcock/Scully. The trailer teases some special guests, including Craig Robinson, Marc Evan Jackson, Jason Mantzoukas and Jason Mantzoukas. Cheddar, Captain Holt's beloved dog, is also being promoted. He was played by Stewart, among other corgis. We can bet that there will be a fucking episode in which Cheddar dies. It's going to be an epic episode. Fuck.Brooklyn Nine-Nine will be returning for its final season in August 12.
