Capitol Police Officers Fear Jan. 6 Committee Will Go Nowhere

BuzzFeed News spoke to a few officers who didn't testify Tuesday and none expressed optimism.One officer stated that they have seen it all before. Another officer said, "I just hope it happens. You never know what this place will bring." A third said that he doesn't think it will happen because it has happened before.One Capitol Police officer described Tuesday's testimony as fascinating, but questioned whether more hearings were necessary since Congress had already held several and produced a lengthy report about the insurrection.It is not clear if it will go anywhere," said one Capitol Police officer. It is quite shocking that Republicans are refusing to take part in this.Both the Senate and House approved a $2 billion supplemental bill Thursday. It includes money to strengthen the Capitol. Some officers suggested that temporary measures could have already been in place following the attack.One officer suggested a transparent glass structure to secure the speakers' office.
