She produced an incredible documentary about Ellis Haizlip, her uncle who hosted Soul!, the PBS program from 1968 to 1973.Ellis's show was a platform for political expression, social justice and civil rights at a time in America when civil rights and Vietnam War were front-and-center.It's amazing that Ellis hosted the show when homosexuality was illegal in many States and homophobia was rampant. He had Louis Farrakhan guest on the show and confronted him about his condemnation for homosexuality.
