Panic, a company well-known for its apps for Apple's iPhones and iPads, has today launched pre-orders of its Playdate handheld gaming system.Panic had 20,000 Playdate Systems available for preorder in late 2021 for shipping. However, these quickly sold out. Orders placed now will ship in 2022.The Playdate, a small gaming system with a unique design, is priced at $179. The Playdate features a bright yellow chassis and a black-and-white display. There are also A+B buttons and a crank that acts as a flip-out rotating controller.Pre-installed games by developers such as Shaun Inman and Bennett Foddy will be included in the pocketable gaming system.There will be many games at launch. Each week, a new game will be added for a few more months.
