Trip Report: Emirates A380 Business Class ' What are the Changes?

Last month, I flew from Dubai to Frankfurt on an Emirates A380 to join a cargo flight that carried medical aid around the globe. This is the latest Emirates A380 Business Class trip review.Emirates Business Class LoungeThe Emirates Lounge has reintroduced the lounge buffet, which is in addition to the new social distancing rules and better hygiene overall. Instead of ordering, tell the staff and they'll serve you at the buffet station. Being a huge fan of buffets, I'm happy to report that there is a similar selection to those in pre-pandemic times.Because there are fewer flights in the afternoon, the Lounge is less crowded in the evening. Many single items, such as sandwiches, fruits and desserts, are now prepacked and ready to be served.Emirates A380 Business ClassAn A380 registered A6-EVG was used to fly me from EK47 to Frankfurt. It was surprising to me that only 120 people were on board this 500-seater. The connectivity from Dubai and other Middle Eastern hubs is currently very difficult due to the closed borders of many countries in the Indian sub-continent or Asia Pacific. The majority of traffic is O&D (Origin and Destination).Setting up my seat 23AWhy Seat 23A is a preferred seatMy seat 23A can be found in the mini cabin at the rear of the upper deck. The window seat offers better privacy than the others. It also has a bulkhead feature, which gives you more privacy from the bulkhead and provides a larger footwell than the other seats. My seat 23ASeat 23A has legroom and footwell.Window seat on Emirates A380 Business ClassWindow seat on Emirates A380 Business ClassAisle Seat in Emirates A380 Business ClassAisle Seat in Emirates A380 Business ClassCenter Pair Seat in Emirates A380 Business ClassCenter Pair Seat in Emirates A380 Business ClassEmirates has stopped giving away their sanitation kit. Instead, they give out individual sanitizer gels and a mask.A few A380s left in the afternoon bound for Cairo and Amman. You can store extra items in the side bins under the window seat.Mini bar at your Emirates A380 Business Class seatThe flight attendants brought the mattress to your seat after take-off. These help create a more comfortable environment. It's great to see Emirates offer mattresses in both First and Business Class.Lunch Menu Dubai to Frankfurt, Emirates Business ClassEmirates Business Class Wine MenuEmirates Business Class Wine MenuEmirates Business Class Wine MenuLunch was served with individual wrapped bread. The rest of the meal was the same as pre-pandemic.Smoke SalmonThe presentation and quality of the food was excellent. The Middle Eastern cuisine is a better option, since the catering comes from Dubai.Bzar ChickenThe Emirates onboard lounge is now open and fully stocked with snacks and beverages. It can be found at the back of A380.The Emirates A380 onboard Lounge is now openThe flight attendants offered ice cream halfway through the 6 hour flight. This is what the seat looks like when it is flat. I slept onboard for approximately 2 hours. Like all other windows seats, seat 23A offers more privacy as it is away from pedestrians in the aisle.SummaryThe Emirates A380 Business Class flight was very pleasant. It is actually a better product than their B777 offering. They usually have a 2-3-2 configuration. Emirates has 30 A380s in operation this summer.Emirates offers reasonable upgrades to long-haul flights, as they are not always full. Make sure to check that option when you are checking in online. In my case, an AED 2,760 upgrade was available to First Class.
