They won the first Olympic rowing gold in Ireland.In the home stretch, Germany's closest rivals were defeated by the reigning European and world champions. They won in six minutes and 6.43 seconds.It came in third place to win bronze.O'Donovan (27 years old) now has a gold and silver medal to add to the silver he won at Rio 2016, along with his older brother Gary. Gary is a reserve member of the team after McCarthy, 24, was unable to compete.
