Lamar Jackson tests positive for COVID-19, misses opening practice of Baltimore Ravens training camp

He missed Wednesday's training camp practice.John Harbaugh, Ravens coach, said that the team received the positive result on Tuesday after Jackson had tested negative several times over the previous days.Sources told ESPN's Jamison Henne and Adam Schefter that Jackson had been flagged by the NFL for his latest COVID-19 test. The NFL was still processing and evaluating the results.Jackson was unable to practice so Trace McSorley, Tyler Huntley and Tyler Huntley were the most active at quarterback. Kenji Bahar, who was a part of minicamp with the Ravens, has been signed and will now work out as the third quarterback.Harbaugh confirmed Wednesday that Gus Edwards, running back, has also tested positive for COVID-19. He will be missing training camp.Jackson, 24, was positive for COVID-19 at Thanksgiving. He missed the Ravens' match against the Steelers. The league MVP for 2019 was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 roster less than two weeks later. He returned to Baltimore for the Cowboys' next game.Jackson was among 20 Baltimore players who were on the reserve/COVID-19 roster last season. The Ravens suffered an epidemic from late November through early December, during which at most one player tested positive for HIV on 10 consecutive days.Jackson led Baltimore to the playoffs each of his three NFL seasons. He also compiled a record-breaking 30-7 regular season record as the Ravens' starter quarterback. Jackson rushed for more than 1,000 yards each season in the past two seasons and passed for 2,757 yards, with 26 touchdowns.
