Netflix picks up Chicago Party Aunt cartoon

It's been more than a decade since $h*! After My Dad Says was cancelled, the entertainment industry is looking again to Twitter for inspiration. Netflix finally released the Zola movie earlier in the summer. Now, Netflix logs onto Twitter to discover a fantastically zany character that is perfectly suited for an animated series. She hails from Chicaaagoa, a small town in the middle the country where you can't put ketchup over your hot dogs, where you get your groceries at Da Jewels. Everyone still talks about the 85 Bears even though the Cubs, White Sox and Blackhawks have all won championships.AdvertisementWe have a Twitter account and animated series to help you if those Chicago-area references tickled your fancy! The Twitter account is Chris Witaskes Chicago Party Aunt. (bio: Turn life's lemons into Mikes Hard Lemonade.) Netflix ordered 16 episodes of an animated series about Chicago Party Aunt created by Witaske and Jon Barinholtz. The Twitter account's premise is that Chicago Party Aunt is an American woman who lives in Chicago. She likes to drink, eat Italian beef sandwiches and talk about Wrigley Field bleachers. The TV show will expand this into a whole new neighborhood of Chicago-types. Lauren Ash voices the aunt, Diane. She lives with Daniel (Rory OMalley), her gay nephew, who is on a gap year at Stanford and is having wild Chicaaago adventures. Gideon (RuPaul Charles), a New Yorker who moved to Chicago, is trying to infuse some New York style into Chicago, and Zuzana, (Katie Rich), is straight from Poland. She puts a unique Polish twist on modern-Chicagoan situations.Netflix released a teaser image that shows Diane and Daniel sitting down on a New York-style stool and eating deep-dish pizza with their hands. It's all very North Side, but Malrt is mentioned in the press release. Malrt is only a concern of Chicagoans, which makes this operation much more legitimized. Eagle Man would also be a valid option to legitimize the operation.
