Live Text is no longer an M1-exclusive in Apple's newest macOS Monterey beta

Apple expands the range of devices that can use one its M1-chip exclusive features in macOS Monterey Beta 4. According to Apple's latest documentation, Live Text, which is the company's new image scanning feature and text identifying feature runs on all Mac computers that run macOS Monterey. Rene Ritchie, tech video creator, says that this should refer to Intel-based Macs. One user claims that he has gotten it working on a Mac Pro since 2008.Live Text digitizes text from photos. This allows for smart features such as making phone numbers and addresses searchable in Apple Photos and interactive in the Camera app. This new feature was limited to the newer MacBook Airs Pros and iMacs by Apple. It marked Apple's first major break in functionality between Macs with Intel processors and those running custom-designed chips. This might not be true anymore.Based on Apple's preview page, Macs should be supported for all devices running Monterey. It was possible to bring Live Text to Intel easier because the Mac and iPhone use it in different ways. Ritchie points out that the iPhone can process text in-camera. This is a more difficult task than just analysing a still image. The Macs don't have an extensive camera array that can scan photos quickly, so they are theoretically more efficient.MacOS Monterey will release this fall.
