Sources -- Los Angeles Dodgers' Trevor Bauer has MLB administrative leave extended through Aug. 6

Sources told ESPN that Trevor Bauer, Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher, was granted an administrative leave on Tuesday. It will continue through Aug. 6.Major League Baseball gave permission to the MLB Players Association once more to keep Bauer on leave. This non-disciplinary measure guarantees a player's salary and time while investigations continue. It lasts for another 10 days. The hearing in civil for Bauer's temporary restraining orders will be held Monday and Tuesday at L.A. County Superior Court. It is expected that it will last between two and three days. Day 3 of the hearing will take place on Aug. 19, but that's a 16-day delay that could prove difficult to overcome.MLB and the City of Pasadena Police Department are investigating Bauer separately. Bauer is accused of punching a woman in the face, choking her and causing her to lose consciousness. ESPN obtained copies of the domestic violence restraining orders filed in L.A. County Superior Court June 28.The temporary restraining orders were executed ex parte. They can be obtained without the input of either party. Bauer's side strongly denies the accusations of sexual assault. He called the interactions between the woman and him "wholly consensual" while stating in a prior statement, that Bauer "vehemently denied" her account of the two meetings.Friday's initial hearing to determine whether the temporary restraining orders would be made permanent was postponed six days after Bauer and his attorneys asked for more time to prepare defenses against witnesses and exhibits that they claimed they had not received the night before. The hearing was attended by Bauer and the woman. Bauer's legal team informed the judge that they have advised him not testify due to the ongoing investigation. However, the petitioner's side said that he must still take the stand even though he invokes his Fifth Amendment right to not answer questions. Each side will call up to 10 witnesses.Bauer hasn’t been with the Dodgers in over a year since July 2, when he was placed on leave. Bauer's bobblehead evening, scheduled for Aug. 19, has been cancelled by the Dodgers. They also removed all his merchandise from the team and online shops, stating that they "didn't feel it was appropriate" after the investigation. MLB can place players on unilateral leave for seven days under its domestic violence policy. However, the MLBPA must consent to extend it. According to a league source, the MLBPA has cooperated in doing so continuously thus far.Bauer, who was the 2020 National League Cy Young Award Winner as a member the Cincinnati Reds, signed a record-breaking three-year contract worth $102 million in February with the Dodgers. It also includes two opt out clauses.
