Texas Gov. Abbott orders state National Guard to help federal agents arrest people at the border

Greg Abbott wrote Tuesday to the Texas Governor asking for assistance at the US Border.He stated that he wanted his state's National Guard help federal agents to arrest people at the Texas-Mexico border.He stated that people who cross the border are "an ongoing, imminent threat of disaster for certain agencies and counties in the State of Texas."Check out more stories from Insider's business page.Texas Governor Greg Abbott asked the Texas Governor to ask his state's National Guard for assistance in assisting federal agents at the border between Texas, Mexico.Abbott wrote Tuesday to Major General Tracey Norris (current adjutant general of Texas National Guard), stating that people who cross the border "pose an ongoing and imminent danger of disaster for certain counties or agencies in the State of Texas."He stated that "To respond to the disaster and secure the law at our Southern borders, more manpower was needed - in additional to the Texas Department of Public Safety troopers (DPS), and soldiers from Texas National Guard I have already deployed there- and DPS requires help in arresting those violating state laws."This is Abbott's latest attempt to combat what he calls a crisis at Mexico's border with the US.In June, Abbott declared plans to keep President Donald Trump's wall at the border and called for other governors to send law enforcement officers to the border.Business Insider has the original article.
